Episode 8: Misremembering 2014

The consequences of football, #BrianWilliamsMisremembers, why the White House Correspondents' Dinner should be abolished, Matt Drudge at the National Press Club, the Spanish Inquisition, best books/movies/TV of 2014, Christopher Hitchens on Design, and the three things we should not recommend on a Christian program but did anyway.

  1. Life on Mars--the British original--had me until the finale. Doing a running jump off a roof after being given a second chance at life by a pioneering surgeon sticking his neck out doesn't seem very life-affirming to me. Or worthy of audience praise. Just more European nihilism. What makes this time different than the coma he learned he was in? He's dead now. I bet that puts a crimp in the dreaming process.

  2. People hated the American ending where it turned out that they were all in an artificial coma for a long Mars mission. No one killed themselves after. That more a reflection of "people" than the alternative ending.
