  2. I take it you never saw a real Man From U.N.C.L.E.--the television series? I'm not saying that I'm not enjoying it (I'm live blogging it as I watch), but it appears they're doing a mash-up with It Takes A Thief. That's the advantage of being young, I guess. You don't get offended by people tampering with classics. On with the show, then . . .

    1. I spared you the running commentary that I had been planning as I watched, but my final assessment is that Man From U.N.C.L.E is an OK film. It has a look of money, but Ritchie didn't crack a book when it comes to 1960s technology or the Soviet Union. Or perhaps a British Comrade is just being kind to the folks back in the old country. Cavill seems to be doing an impersonation of George Hamilton--or so it seems to me, NTTAWWT. The plot of Vikander blowing the cover of Solo and Kuryakin doesn't make any sense to me because it doesn't do anything for her that isn't going to happen anyway. It almost gets Solo killed, though. There is a slight anti-American feeling running through the movie, but maybe that's required now-a-days for an international project to fill seats. The bottom line is that I would watch another, though I don't think it was successful enough for that to happen.
